Silver Lining-Dragonfly

This time of far more inactivity than normal, allows us to take time to think. We can quiet our minds and think about who we are and the life we are living. We can take stock, re-evaluate and determine to make changes. It can be a messy job, but now is a good time to do it.

Dragonflies symbolize the change in perspective of yourself.

I've never had the experience of a dragonfly's sting, but I hear it is extremely painful. How can something so beautiful and fragile create such pain!? Self examination and change can. How can we improve, grow and make life better without it? I love Max Lucado's book title “Jesus loves you just the way you are...but He doesn't want you to stay that way.” ...exactly.

We don't have to deny who we are and our value in order to change and improve. You can still be “you” and change. Looking through my old Jr High yearbook, I read many “don't ever change” comments from my friends' signatures. The great wisdom of a community of adolescents, trying to find their value and identity in static comfort. Honest self examination and true standard seeking couldn't be more important. Deciding what things are “you” in the God given talents and personality traits and what things are just human faults and vices is wise and the first step to freedom. Accepting our faults and vices as just “me” creates a prison of conscience. We can admit them...but we don't have to accept them.

Another silver lining of this “pandemic” is the introspection it is forcing on us all.

The sting of the dragonfly is real, but it is delivered by the beauty and gentleness of courage and a miracle yet to be realized.

Think about it.

Change.

It can be a beautiful freedom.
