“The Stars of Still Life”

Ok, so my "coffee break" painting got a little bigger and took a little longer this time. Some days, you just need that second cup...that lingering pause, with no finish line nor pressure to get back to work. Whenever my mind gets overloaded and starts to feel like it's going to go off the rails with one more push, I paint flowers. They are the stars of the still life world and quite possibly the first word for beauty, in a free association test. They seem to be an anchor for wild vessels drifting in seas of ugliness. I guess I needed a BIG reminder this time around the garden.
